9Air Co, Guangdong province’s first low-cost airline, will start operations in Wuxi, Jiangsu province on Mar 27, offering tickets priced as low as 9 yuan ($1.39), according to Wuxi Sunan Shuofang International Airport.
It’s the third low-cost carrier to operate from Wuxi airport after Hong Kong Express Airways (HK Express) and Shanghai-based Juneyao Airlines.
9Air will launch its first flight between Wuxi and Guiyang, capital of southwest China's Guizhou province. Flights will run once a day, using a Boeing 737-800.
Passengers can buy tickets on 9Air’s official website and app or using electronic payment platforms such as WeChat from Mar 19, company officials said.
9Air Co, a low-cost carrier based in Guangdong province, which started operations in Dec 2014, ordered 50 Boeing 737 aircrafts in May 2014, making it the largest single order from a privately owned Chinese airline.
