John Flannery, the CEO of GE Healthcare had talks with Li Xiaomin, Wuxi Party secretary on May 9, regarding the medical services provider’s further cooperation and increased investment in the city, Wuxi Daily reported.
GE Healthcare China (Wuxi Medical) has had operations in the city for two decades, and is widely seen as a vanguard in promoting local innovation and boosting regional economic development.
Flannery said that GE is dedicated to promoting the technological innovation of medical equipment. The company owns hundreds of international and national patents, and cooperates with almost 300 local suppliers in China, and has a more than 90 percent localized purchasing rate. In 2015, the company had a turnover of 3.2 billion yuan ($491 million).
Li congratulated GE Healthcare on its 20th anniversary in Wuxi and thanked the company for its contribution to Wuxi over the years. He hoped that the two sides will strengthen ties on the basis of cooperation in the future.
Flannery also expressed his thanks to the city government for its strong policy and fund support, which allows for strong growth in the city. "GE Healthcare has decided to increase input in Wuxi and enlarge new product lines for better development," he added.
