Wuxi has launched a new competition to help talented designers, makers and entrepreneurs in the creative and cultural industries find funding and bring their projects to Xinwu district.
The 2017 "Xinwu Cup" Culture Creative Competition launched with a ceremony at 3W Café in Xinwu on May 4, and the contest is now open for entries.
Participants can register for the competition via the official WeChat accounts of Xinwu district (xinwu_wx) or Wuxi makerspace incubator Co (Chuangke-WUXI) from May 4 to 31.
Entries for the first round must be submitted by the end of June and can be presented in various forms including graphic works, video clips and products.
The event, which is being jointly sponsored by Wuxi Municipal Department of Publicity and Wuxi National Hi-Tech District administrative committee, is offering generous prizes to the top entries.
According to Gu Jianwei, founder of 3W Café, the first prize winner will be awarded 50,000 yuan ($7,252), while five runners up will receive 10,000 yuan each, and nine people will each win 3,000 yuan.
Entrants will be judged by a panel of experts and online votes, with the entries with the highest scores going through to the final in the middle of August.
The Xinwu Cup is part of a wider drive to promote culture and innovation in the city in Jiangsu province. The event is being held as part of the third Wuxi Culture Creative Design Contest, which is scheduled to be held at the end of the month.

She said she hoped the competition would offer companies and cultural creative teams a good platform to display their innovative ideas and cutting-edge technologies and applications, promoting more excellent cultural creative programs landing in the district.
